Woodhurst Drive Reconstruction
Today I found myself with 45 minutes to spare in a random neighborhood in Coppell. Thankfully I had my weighted backpack with me and was able to get in a bit of a workout along with some exploration.
The Woodhurst Drive Reconstruction project is ongoing, making this part of the neighborhood a temporary mess. Woodhurst Dr was originally built in the late 1970s, and for multiple reasons, a decision was made to completely reconstruct the roughly two-thirds mile of infrastructure.
The entire project is estimated to cost $4.8 million dollars and includes sewer, water, and drainage improvements, as well as full pavement and sidewalk replacement that comply with ADA requirements.

F*CK ELOY
Continuing the walk into Duck Pond Park allows for a bit of stormwater infrastructure exploration. Say those last three words five times fast. While Lake Grapevine's graffiti appears to be full of sweet messages, this drainage infrastructure in Coppell is full of the exact opposite of that.

THIS is the type of graffiti I'm used to! And, I wish it wasn't. When I take a deep breath and compare the two for a few seconds, I really much prefer the sweeter messages at Lake Grapevine.
Most importantly, this image puts a message to Eloy front and center. But I'd like you to pause and consider Beau, not Eloy – can you guess what the rest of the message to Beau is about? I bet you can. Look closely to notice the (small) hint above the "L" in Eloy.
Anyway, I wonder what Eloy did to prompt this fantastic piece of art displayed in this (probably) very expensive stormwater drain?
NO TRESPASSING
To round out this short little walk through the Woodhurst neighborhood in Coppell, I finished near the St. Alphonsa Catholic Church and their neighborly messaging to the community.

I thought churches were supposed to be welcoming? How naive I am. But if I were to make a guess on why this sign exists, I bet it has something to do with neighborhood dogs and the things they leave behind. Or perhaps, their owners.
Still. Seriously?
